Ong Yu Zhen (15) Holidays

During the year end holidays last year, i did not go overseas with my family. Instead, i spent most of my time in school practising FSD. ROD also took place during that time n i also went for a PDS course at HQ with some of my platoonmates and a sergeant.

I received the silver badge (top left) with difficulty. i went for the PDS (Precision Drill Squad) course
during the holidays at HQ. It was a 3 days course and it required us to report at HQ at 8.30 in the morning
and to be dismissed at 6+ in the night. For the whole day, we would be holding onto our heavy rifle, doing drills
and PT. It was exhausting, especially the PT. PT takes place twice a day, early in the morning when drilling
had not started and after lunch. We had to do many sets of jumping jacks, 3 different types of pumpings
(normal, diamond and spider), and many other exercises which trained us in our arm strength. The worst arm strength exercise was the one where we had to hold up our rifle at our shoulder level without bending our arms. It was a painful experience as my arms and thumbs were hurting badly. The lunch provided was really bad. The course was supposed to take place for a month. However, in our case, we had to complete this course in
just 3 days!!! Hence, we had to cramp our brains with different yet similar rifle drills. At the end of the course,
there was an evaluation and we got tested on the drills. I did really bad but managed to pass as my coursemates
did poorly as well. Hence, I feel that I got the badge just based on luck.
For the badge on the top right, it was a badge that i received after visiting the RSS endurance ship
at HarbourFront.
For the 2 keychains on the bottom ,they are given to me by my platoonmates who had brought from overseas.

Pictures that i took with my seniors during ROD :D
Love that day <3

Sweet letters that my Seniors wrote to me :D

Thoughtful gift

Meaningful gift by my previous USM and ASM. This is
for me to write down happy moments so that I can look back
after a year or more.

Oh my! your holiday is really interesting! I guess it was tiring too! I can picture you reporting to HQ at 8.30am! I really envy the strong bonds you have with your fellow CCA seniors and mates.
I think next time it is good for you to orientate your words all to your right so it is easier for us to read. Good effort for this! I love to see your faces in the pictures!! -Yujung
